Statement Of Policy In Matter Of H & S

It is the policy of B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd to comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work General Application Regulations 2013 together with any amendments or other relevant statutory requirements, to ensure so far as is reasonably practicable the safety, health and welfare of all our employees while at work.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd to protect, so far as is reasonably practicable, persons not directly employed by this Company who may be affected by our activities.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors Monaghan  Ltd to apply collective systems of protection where reasonably practicable, other wise Personal Protective Equipment, as well as such information, training and supervision necessary for this purpose will be provided, as required under the Act.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors that their site managers and engineers shall be proactive in promoting a ‘Health and Safety’ ethos on site.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd to consult all staff and employees on matters of health & safety. The Company actively encourages the election of Site Safety Representatives. The Company will provide the facilities for appropriate training, the carrying out of their duties and access to site management for the Safety Representative.


Employees are hereby notified of the Company policy and are encouraged to comply with their duties under the 2005 Act to notify the Company management of any hazards they might identify in the workplace.  All employees are reminded of their responsibility to co-operate with engineers, supervisors and managers to achieve a safe and healthy workplace and to take reasonable care for themselves and others.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd to implement this Safety Management System to ensure compliance with the firms Health & Safety policy.


To this end, it is the policy of B & C Contractors to gather information to generate statistics for use as a form of comparison between sites and as a method for a benchmarking process throughout the Company.


The allocation of duties in matters of Health & Safety, and the particular arrangements to implement the policy are set out in this Safety Management System and the Company Safety Statement.


Relevant Health & Safety training will be provided as necessary to site staff. Being committed to the concept of Safety, Health and Welfare at work, B & C Contractors will make available all resources – financial, personnel, time etc, that might be reasonably required to achieve this aim.


Copies of this Safety Management System and the Safety Statement together with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, the General Application Regulations and the Construction Regulations, are distributed to all Site Managements and shall be available at all locations where this Company carries on business, including sites and head office. The Safety Statement is available for inspection at all times by any person who might be affected by our activities.


The success of this policy depends on the commitment, involvement and co-operation of all employees and others on site. You are encouraged to become familiar with the contents and aspirations of this document.


Any disciplinary actions necessitated as a result of infringing the Safety Statement or involving unsafe practices will be carried out under the procedures set out in this Safety Management System.


It is the policy of B & C Contractors to commit to continuously improving this Safety Management System and the Safety Statement as the business changes in nature and size and on the commencement of new legislation. To ensure this, the Safety Management System and the Safety Statement will be regularly reviewed in the way in which it has operated, and be updated as necessary, at least annually or more frequently where necessary.
