B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd operate and are registered in the Safety Management System OHSAS 18001:2007 and have all procedures in place. The Safety Management System is to compliment the existing Management systems that are already operational.

B & C Contractors have acted as PSCS on numerous construction projects. Fergal McKevitt MSc Oshm, Dip SHWW.,M.I.O.S.H. MIIRSM is B & C Contractors Safety Officer and each foreman holds at a minimum ‘Managing Safely in Construction’ certificate, complimented by First Aiders and Safety Representative on each site.

This Safety Management System is designed to allow managers to identify best practices in matters of Health & Safety within B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd and to compare the operating performance of the Safety Management System on the various sites in an ongoing manner.

As part of the seriousness which B & C Contractors Monaghan Ltd attaches to matters of Health & Safety the firm will cause to be displayed, at the various work locations, a copy of the Policy Statement which form part of this Safety Management System.

Reporting from Site Management and Site Safety Officers will be assessed on an ongoing basis, and reviewed formally not less than four times per year, by the Group Safety Officer and the Managing Director. The objects of these reviews are to ensure that Company Policy and standards are being maintained, to assess the outcomes of any incidents and to institute any corrective actions necessary on any site or between sites where there are common situations or Sub-Contractors.

Initially, a Preliminary Design Construction Plan is prepared by B & C Contractors Safety Officer in conjunction with the Design Team, and proposed site staff. Prior to commencement on site, a Construction Plan is prepared with input from all external sub-contractors taking on board any hazards or possible risk identified in the Preliminary Design Plan. The Construction Plan is updated on site daily, in order to identify new hazards prior to them arising. The development of the Construction Plan and Safety File is detailed in the attached Health & Safety Management System.
